Matrix is delighted to announce that Carter Chim has been appointed as the Co-Chairman of the Committee on Competition Law of the Hong Kong Bar Association for the year 2026. Carter will serve in this leadership capacity alongside Catrina Lam SC.
This prestigious appointment reinforces Carter’s standing within the Hong Kong legal market and his reputation as a leading practitioner in competition law. Carter takes on this role at a significant milestone for the jurisdiction, following the tenth anniversary of the full implementation of the Competition Ordinance in Hong Kong.
In his new capacity, Carter intends to drive deeper strategic alignment between the English and Hong Kong Bars, fostering a dynamic exchange of antitrust jurisprudence across both jurisdictions. Carter’s dual-jurisdiction expertise, practising from both Matrix Law in London and Denis Chang’s Chambers in Hong Kong, uniquely positions him to bridge the gap between UK/EU regulatory developments and the rapidly evolving APAC market. By deepening the collaborative relationship between London and Hong Kong, Carter aims to facilitate the sharing of jurisprudence and practical insights, ultimately enriching the antitrust landscape in both markets. A key focus of his tenure will be fostering a dynamic exchange of cross-border jurisprudence to tackle emerging frontier issues, particularly the intersection of artificial intelligence and antitrust law.
We warmly congratulate Carter on this significant appointment.
