Jamas Hodivala KC, instructed by Hassans International in Gibraltar, acted for Officer 1 in an Article 2 inquest into the deaths of two suspects who died following a high-speed pursuit and collision at sea between a Royal Gibraltar Police Interceptor vessel and a suspect RHIB that took place in Spanish Waters. The Metropolitan Police conducted a complex multi-jurisdictional investigation.
This was the second inquest following the quashing of the original inquest verdicts of Unlawful Killing based on gross negligence manslaughter. Following submissions on behalf of Officer 1, the inquest jury were directed to return verdicts of Accidental death.
