Danny Friedman KC appeared for the family of Patrick Finucane to make opening remarks in the first hearing of the public inquiry chaired by Sir Gary Hickinbottom.
Mr Finucane – a groundbreaking lawyer and a founding partner of the firm Madden-Finucane – was assassinated in Belfast in February 1989 by the Ulster Defence Association. In 2011 the UK Government recognised that his murder was carried out by British agents in circumstances amounting to “shocking levels of state collusion”.
Danny acts with Christopher Jacobs and Séamus McIlroy BL. They are instructed by Martin Howe and David Enright of Howe & Co.
