Practice Team T
Team T, led by our Practice Manager Paul Venables, provide administrative support and assistance to members working in a number of areas.
Team T look after the following areas:
- Crime & regulatory law,
- Extradition & Mutual Legal Assistance,
- Inquests & inquiries,
- Police law, and
- Public international law.
Team T are your first point of contact if you need to instruct, or get in touch with, one of our members in these areas. They are able to assist with the management of members’ diaries, availability enquiries, questions about ongoing cases, court listings, arbitration and mediation facilities, meeting and client conference bookings, and updating our client relationship management system.

Paul is one of our Practice Managers. He assists our Senior Practice Manager, Jason, with the management of our practice staff and specifically those working on Team T. Paul focusses on the practices of those in the criminal law, public international law, arbitration, civil action against the police, extradition and mutual legal assistance and inquests and inquiries teams.
Paul also attends business development trips and meets with law firms, financial institutions, governments and individual lawyers in our key jurisdictions.
Carla has been clerking since 1997 and joined Matrix in 2000. Carla's role at Matrix is to assist the Practice Manager and aid smooth running of the team in his absence. This includes fees negotiation, diary management, liaising with instructing solicitors with regard to existing and new cases, and generally giving guidance to more junior members of the team.
Carla joined Team T in January 2013, previously a member of Team M at Matrix and works part-time Wednesdays-Fridays. Carla lives in Kent with her husband and two boys.
Carla is on maternity leave until October.
Daniel joined Matrix in 2001 and assists Paul in managing and developing all Team T members’ practices. He has specific expertise in complex listing and an encyclopaedic knowledge of Supreme Court procedure.
In his spare time Daniel is a keen Archer and is chair of the largest archery club in Hertfordshire.
