Practice Team M
Team M, led by our Practice Manager Cliff Holland, provide administrative support and assistance to members working in a number of key areas.
Team M are your first point of contact if you need to instruct, or get in touch with, one of our members in the following areas:
They are able to assist with the management of members’ diaries, availability enquiries, questions about ongoing cases, court listings, arbitration and mediation facilities, events, meeting and client conference bookings, and updating our client relationship management system.

Cliff is one of our Practice Managers. He assists with the management of our practice staff and manages the members who work in employment, media and information, sports, and discrimination and equality law. Cliff’s role incorporates the management, administration, business development and strategic direction of the team, which sees him as a regular attendee at national and international industry conferences and events.
Cliff has been at Matrix since 2010 and has over 25 years of experience working in chambers. He is on the Management Committee of the Institute of Barristers Clerks, a Bar Council Equality & Diversity Sub Committee and is a Member of the Industrial Law Society.
He is ‘both very well informed and genial in his approach’ (Chambers UK 2016)’ and ‘he knows everyone and everyone knows him’ (Legal 500 2015).
Phil is an Assistant Practice Manager on Team M and has managerial responsibility for our Outdoor and Office Assistants. He is responsible for diary management, handling enquiries, fee negotiations and business development of Matrix members, as well as supervising the workload of our OOAs.
Phil has been as at Matrix since 2009 and has a Masters in Business Administration from the Open University.
Alison joined Matrix in January 2015. She started her career at East Anglian Chambers in 1992 and has over 23 years’ clerking experience. Alison lives in Suffolk and in her spare time enjoys socialising with her family and friends and is a keen traveller to warmer climates.
Amy joined Matrix in October 2006 as an Outdoor and Office Assistant after completing her A-Levels. She moved up to Senior Office Assistant in 2011, and again to Practice Assistant in 2013. Amy has completed her BTEC in chambers administration, passing each Unit with a distinction. She lives at home with her family in Kent. She is a keen reader, and loves a bit of Magic FM.
