Road to Rio: Discrimination and Personal Liability in Sport


Over the coming months we will be discussing some of the key legal issues in sport, whilst looking ahead to the Rio Olympics and Paralympics this summer.

This week Paul Nicholls QC will be looking at discrimination and personal liability in sport.

There can often be great pressure on respondents to settle discrimination and whistleblowing claims when high profile individuals are named as respondents, regardless of their views on the merits of the claim. In this article, Paul considers the bases upon which individuals as well as corporate respondents may be liable, and seeks to identify some steps which may be available to attempt to limit the extent to which named individuals are involved in proceedings.
