Brexit ‘rough’ or ‘smooth’? – Rhodri Thompson QC

Rhodri Thompson QC considers two possible routes for British exit from the EU is the UK votes to leave in the referendum on 23 June in a short opinion. He suggests the exit could either be “rough” or “smooth”. The latter would seek to maintain close economic ties with the EU and continue to observe the single market rules, whereas the former would reflect a xenophobic and restrictive view that would result in severe political and economic difficulties for the UK.
