Coronavirus update: Matrix remains open with reduced opening hours (9-6pm). We are encouraging clients to hold meetings over video or telephone conference rather than in person. For all work enquiries, please call us on 020 7404 3447. To help direct your call further, please see our list of key contacts.

As well as representing parties at mediation, Matrix has a strong team of qualified mediators across a broad range of specialist areas. Matrix mediators bring their extensive specialist knowledge and litigation experience to the mediation process. They have the ability to absorb information quickly so as to identify the key issues at play between the parties at the mediation stage. Our mediators are approachable and are able to establish a relaxed rapport with clients to put them at ease from the outset.

Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a neutral third party attempts to facilitate a settlement between the parties to a dispute. It can afford the parties control of the process and allow for open dialogue before the commencement of litigation and the costs that may bring.  Mediators may provide clear and coherent advice to assist the parties to form a view on the strengths and weaknesses of their case and how to achieve an acceptable outcome but they do not take sides or reach a decision themselves.  By remaining neutral a mediator is able to facilitate a successful resolution to both sides which remains confidential and, until the parties reach a final agreement, without prejudice and non-binding.

Mediation has a high success rate. It allows the parties to consider options for settlement that may not otherwise be obtained through court proceedings or arbitration. Increasingly, parties to a dispute in court are strongly encouraged to attempt to reach settlement by mediation before the matter is heard and the saving of court fees, litigation costs, time and resources can be considerable.

Mediators from Matrix have been involved in a breadth of disputes in a number of areas, including employment, political disputes, sexual harassment, education, commercial and sport.

Members of the Matrix mediation team also have considerable expertise, and are regularly instructed, in mediation advocacy. Their background in litigation informs their analysis of the legal dispute between the parties, and their mediation experience and training shapes how they help their clients reach the right settlement in the mediation context.

Our fees are competitive and will reflect the value and complexity of the dispute. We also have the added benefit of being able to offer rooms and facilities at Matrix.
