Sweett Group ordered to pay £2.25m over bribery conviction

An investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) led to the construction firm, Sweett Group, pleading guilty to a criminal offence of failing to prevent bribes paid to secure its part in the building of a £63m luxury hotel in Dubai. The firm became the first company to be convicted under section 7 of the UK Bribery Act and was ordered to pay £2.25m.
