In Re an application by Siobhan Mclaughlin for Judicial Review (NI)  UKSC 48, the Supreme Court rules that Widowed Parents’ Allowance payable in Northern Ireland discriminates against unmarried parents, contrary to ECHR, art 14 read in conjunction with art 8 (right to a private family life) and art 1 of Protocol 1 (protection of property).
