The Supreme Court has today handed down judgment in Kingdom of Bahrain v Shehabi and Mohammed [2026] UKSC 25, in which it dismissed Bahrain’s claim to state immunity.
The proceedings concern allegations that Bahrain engaged in the hacking of the Claimants’ computers using spyware in order to place them under surveillance while they were located in the UK. The Supreme Court has today upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal, by which Bahrain’s claim to immunity in the proceedings was rejected.
