A review commissioned by the General Medical Council has recommended that organisations referring concerns about a doctor’s fitness to practise to the GMC should declare whether the doctor has raised concerns about patient safety. The report by Sir Anthony Hooper says that there is evidence that those who raise concerns may suffer, or believe they will suffer, reprisals from their employer of colleagues. The report also proposes a series of recommendations to make sure that such whistleblowers are treated fairly. For more information please click here. For the report please click here.
