Dr Webberley provided treatment to patients diagnosed with gender dysphoria, and prescribed puberty blockers to one such 11 year-old patient.
The MPT decided to suspend her from practice because, despite communicating the risks to fertility from the treatment to the patient’s mother, she had failed to discuss the risks directly with the patient.
The High Court expressed a number of concerns with the MPT’s reasons and quashed its finding of serious professional misconduct. Exceptionally, the MPT refused to remit the matter back to the MPT for a fresh determination, thereby bringing the matter to an end.
