Prof. Cathryn Costello has co-edited a Symposium at the Verfassungblog, arising out of the AFAR (Algorithmic Fairness for Asylum Seekers and Refugees) project, a collaboration Derya Ozkul and Cathryn Costello instigated, drawing together a research team from across Europe.
The blog posts examine various aspects of the workings of algorithmic tools in asylum and migration, sounding an alarm about their opacity, unfairness and propensity to discriminate at scale, as well as some possible positive uses.
