Operation Nexus Hearing

On Thursday 4 May 2017 Mrs Justice McGowan sitting in the High Court finished hearing a challenge brought by the AIRE Centre against Operation Nexus. Operation Nexus is a collaboration between the Home Office Immigration Enforcement and the Metropolitan Police whereby the immigration status of foreign nationals is checked. The AIRE Centre argued that this policy is carried out systematically and that it involves foreign nationals being questioned by the police for non-police purposes. It was argued that it is therefore contrary to EU and domestic law. Dan Squires QC was instructed by Zubier Yazdani of Deighton Pierce Glynn solicitors and the AIRE Centre.
