Edward Fitzgerald KC of Doughty Street Chambers, Mark Summers KC and Florence Iveson secured permission to appeal on behalf of Julian Assange in his extradition matter.

The President of the King’s Bench Division and Mr Justice Johnson granted leave on the grounds that extradition to the United States could breach Mr Assange’s free speech rights, protected by article 10 ECHR, and that Mr Assange could face prejudice on the grounds of his nationality, contrary to section 81 of the Extradition Act 2003, if tried in the US.

The case will now be adjourned to a full appeal hearing.
