Hugh Southey QC and Nick Armstrong are instructed in a Judicial Review challenge to £1 per hour wages within detention centres. The case is a landmark challenge to the detention centre pay regime that was first introduced in 2008. Figures suggest that in 2016/17 over 880,000 hours of paid work was carried out by immigration detainees, with the vast majority of workers paid £1 per hour. Hugh and Nick are instructed by Toufique Hossain and Philip Armitage of Duncan Lewis’ Public Law Team. To read the press release in full, please see here.
