A request from the government of Brazil for the extradition of Jeffrey Lendrum was denied yesterday. Mr Lendrum is wanted to serve a 4.5 year sentence following his arrest in Sao Paulo in 2015 for trying to board a flight to Johannesburg with rare birds eggs.

The main challenge to the extradition was due to Jeffrey Lendrum’s ill health. The Judge described the submissions on behalf of Mr Lendrum as ‘impressively and eloquently made’.
