James Stansfeld, instructed by Russell Nicholson, represented Mr Yuri Shulgin, who was sought by the Russian Federation for prosecution for alleged frauds. James successfully argued that following service by the Russian Federation of the same material on article 3 ECHR that had been considered and rejected in other decisions, the Senior District Judge should not list a full hearing and should, instead, order discharge on the basis of his previous rulings. The arguments preceded the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine.
