An inquest into the death of nine-year-old Ella Kissi-Debrah has today found that air pollution was a medical cause of her death. This ruling following the two week inquest is the first time air pollution has been listed as a cause of death in the UK. In the three years before her death in 2013 Ella experienced seizures and was admitted to hospital 27 times.

Richard Hermer QC was instructed by Hodge Jones and Allen to represent Ella Kissi-Debrah’s family in this case.
