The High Court has today ruled that the planned road and tunnel within the World Heritage site of Stonehenge is unlawful. This follows a judicial review, brought by Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site, of Transport Secretary Grant Shapp’s decision to allow the project.
The judge agreed that the Transport Secretary had not properly assessed the risk of harm to each heritage asset within the World Heritage Site.
David Wolfe QC, with Victoria Hutton of 39 Essex, was instructed by Leigh Day to represent Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site in this case.
