A four-day preliminary issue trial in the High Court started on Tuesday 19 February 2019 as part of a claim brought by eleven Lithuanian migrants who worked as chicken catchers. The Claimants allege they were trafficked to the UK and that the company who employed them are liable for various contractual breaches, statutory breaches and torts. The full trial is expected to last 10 weeks.
The four-day trial will determine the preliminary issue of whether the directors are personally liable for the alleged contractual breaches of the company, and the Claimants’ application for summary judgment for those contractual breaches.
Mark Greaves is involved as Junior Counsel in this case, instructed by Brett Wilson LLP.
