The High Court has approved an order setting out what the Secretary of State for Justice will do to prevent children in Feltham prison from being restrained by officers only trained in adult restraint techniques.
This follows from a challenge brought by the Howard League for Penal Reform on behalf of a boy known as ‘ZY’ who was 16 years old when he was restrained by staff without appropriate training on restraint of children.
Dan Squires QC and Ayesha Christie represented the claimant and were instructed by Howard League for Penal Reform.
