Government agency apologises to child sex abuse victim for refusing claim

Published:

The government’s victim compensation agency has issued an apology to a child sex abuse victim for refusing him compensation on the grounds that he consented to the assaults. The man has now been told he is eligible for compensation after his application had originally been rejected by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). The apology came just weeks before he was due to face the ordeal of giving evidence at a hearing appealing against the body’s initial decision.
