Gavin Millar QC gave evidence to the Joint Committee on the Draft Online Safety Bill on 21 October 2021.
He was on a panel along with representatives of the Society of Editors, the News Media Association and DMG Media.
The session considered, in particular, issues relating to the draft Bill’s news media exemption, Clauses 12-14 protecting online freedom of expression, content of democratic importance and journalistic content and the use of algorithms by service providers in dealing with harmful content.
