Foreign office whistleblower hearing begins

Published:

Josie Stewart is bringing Employment Tribunal proceedings against the FCDO under the Public Interest Disclosure Act provisions in the Employment Rights Act. Her civil service security clearance was removed, and she was dismissed after she was accidentally identified as a confidential journalistic source. She had passed information to the BBC about serious failings in the government’s Afghan evacuation in 2021, and about the Prime Minister’s decision to give priority for evacuation to the staff of an animal charity.

Gavin Millar KC and Darryl Hutcheon are representing Ms Stewart.
