Mark Summers QC, Florence Iveson and James Stansfeld have successfully opposed the extradition of three British Nationals to India.
Gursharanvir Singh Wahiwala, Amritivir Singh Wahiwala and Piara Singh Gill were accused of conspiring to murder Rulda Singh in 2009, in an alleged terrorism related murder. District Judge Snow discharged all three men pursuant to section 84 of the Extradition Act 2003, on the basis that there was insufficient evidence of a prima facie case against them. All three had been arrested in December 2020 despite no further action being taken by British Police in 2011, following an investigation. Mark Summers QC said the allegations were ‘wholly unjust’ and the clients had been ‘pursued for 11 years without evidential basis’.
Mark Summers QC and James Stansfeld were instructed by Birnberg Peirce and Florence Iveson was instructed by SKR Legal Solicitors.
