European Court of Human Rights declares surrogacy case inadmissible


H, a child, born pursuant to a surrogacy arrangement, contended that the statutory bar in the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 on her genetic father being named on her birth certificate breached Article 8 of the ECHR. The European Court of Human Rights declared the claim to be inadmissible. Sarah Hannett QC and Nathan Roberts acted for the Government of the United Kingdom.
