Court of Appeal rules that Pimlico plumbers entitled to workers’ rights

The Court of Appeal have concluded that workers described as self-employed who were engaged to work for Pimlico Plumbers are truly ‘workers’ and are entitled to a number of workers’ rights including the right to bring discrimination claims. Karon Monaghan QC and David Stephenson (1 Mitre Court) acted for the respondent and were instructed by TMP Solicitors. Thomas Linden QC and Akash Nawbatt (Devereux Chambers) acted for the appellant and were instructed by Mischon de Reya.
