Judgment has today been handed down in the Commercial Court in the landmark Arcadia v MasterCard competition law damages litigation. Christopher Brown, as part of a team of 5 barristers, acted for a group of leading high street retailers in their claims against MasterCard. The retailers alleged that the multilateral interchange fees set by MasterCard and levied on each MasterCard transaction were in breach of competition law. The trial of the retailers’ similar claims against Visa, in which Christopher also appears, continues before another judge of the Commercial Court.
