Christian Tams of Matrix Chambers and Professor of International Law at the University of Glasgow has co-edited a book entitled ‘International Investment Law and the Global Financial Architecture’ with Stephen W. Schill, University of Amsterdam, and Rainer Hofmann, University of Frankfurt. This book explores whether investment law protects against regulatory measures taken to ensure the stability of financial markets, such as bail-outs and bail-ins, and how it can be applied to sovereign defaults. With respect to these measures, it inquires where the line should be drawn between legitimate regulation and undue interference with investor rights and, equally importantly, who draws it.
