Brook House investigation: permission granted
Two former detainees of Brook House immigration removal centre were today granted permission to seek judicial review compelling an Article 3 compliant inquiry into allegations of mistreatment in the centre. The case follows revelations by BBC Panorama in September 2017. The immigration minister has described what that footage showed as “appalling”. Holman J granted permission at the High Court today, 22 May, and a trial is expected before the end of October.
Nick Armstrong instructed by Joanna Thomson of DPG acts for one of the former detainees. He acts with Jesse Nicholls of Doughty Street Chambers.
