Black woman secures £50,000 damages from Metropolitan Police


Ifeanyi Odogwu acted for a black woman who was assaulted and detained by Metropolitan Police officers in her own home, whilst experiencing a mental health crisis. She brought claims for false imprisonment, assault, and discrimination.

In settling the claims, the Police agreed to pay £50,000 in damages to the claimant, legal costs, and non-pecuniary damages in the form of a letter correcting the claimant’s hospital records.
