Dan Squires KC and Anirudh Mathur have been instructed in a constitutional rights claim brought by Bermudian Supreme Court Justice, Nicole Stoneham.

The claim concerns allegations of misconduct made against Justice Stoneham that appeared in a judgment of the Court of Appeal of Bermuda and which led to disciplinary proceedings being brought against her and her suspension. An investigatory panel chaired by former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lord Burnett, later cleared her of any allegations of misconduct and concluded that “there could be no question that the judge has been guilty of misbehaviour”. The claim arises from the harm said to have resulted from the allegations and disciplinary process.

The proceedings have been covered by the Royal Gazette here.

Dan and Anirudh have extensive human rights practices, including in Caribbean (offshore) constitutional law and before the European Court of Human Rights.
