Anirudh Mathur, with the New York University Rule of Law Lab, has prepared a report on Georgia’s autocratic takeover.
The report, a first-of-its-kind, comprehensively records the Georgian Dream regime’s repressive tactics and capture of independent institutions to entrench authoritarian control. It finds that democracy is in crisis in Georgia and calls on the international community to act swiftly to counter this trend, including by imposing sanctions on high-level Georgian Dream officials.
