Police officers who acted unlawfully and inflicted damage to face civil liability


Re: Mohidin & Ors v Commissioner of the Police of the Metropolis [2016] EWHC 105 (QB)

Whether it was just and equitable for police officers to indemnify the commissioner under the Civil Liability (Contribution) Act 1978, ss 1 and 2 for damages and costs awarded, where the commissioner had been successfully sued for false imprisonment and abuse that two victims had sustained from the officers. Held: It was just and equitable for the officers, who had acted unlawfully and inflicted damage, to face civil liability.
