This case concerned a dispute as to the currency and amount of the final compensation due from the Government of Belize following the nationalisation of Belize Telemedia Ltd. The Court applied a test of “what a reasonable person having all the background knowledge which would have been available to the parties” would have interpreted the terms of a Settlement Agreement dated 11 Sep 2015 to mean. It ordered the defendants to make a final, interest-free payment totalling around USD 80 million to the appellants by 10 Nov 2017.
Angeline Welsh was involved in this case.
