Court dismisses challenge to decision to cancel passports of two British citizens

Re: B & Anor v SSHD [2018] EWHC 2651 (Admin)

The claimants in this case are British citizens and they were both the holders of British passports, who in Apr 2017 were due to take part in a humanitarian convoy which was destined to provide assistance to those in need in Syria. On 24 May 2017 the Security Minister, acting on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Home Department, exercised the Royal Prerogative to cancel each of their passports. By these proceedings, the claimants challenged the legality of those decisions.

Nicol J dismissed the challenge.

Ayesha Christie, Helen Mountfield QC and Dan Squires QC were involved in this case.
