Matrix Roundtable with REDRESS on CRSV
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
On Wednesday 29 November, Matrix hosted an expert roundtable on reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), in collaboration with REDRESS.
The half-day event brought together legal experts, practitioners, and human rights advocates, to share experience and expertise with a view to improving the delivery of reparations to survivors of CRSV.
The primary aim of the roundtable was to develop a proposal for an international framework on reparations for CRSV survivors. Participants also explored what law reforms are required to ensure the effective recovery of assets of perpetrators of CRSV and the repurposing of monetary penalties as a means of financing reparations to survivors.
Joanna Buckley moderated the discussion on legal and practical barriers to reparations for CRSV survivors, and Kate Cook, Toby Fisher, Luis González García and Richard Hermer KC contributed to the discussions.
