My week at Matrix has been one the best experiences of my life. I have learnt so much and all the knowledge I have gained will be with me till the day I hopefully become a barrister. My overall week has given me a deep insight of a law career and it has made me even more passionate to become a lawyer. One of the things I have enjoyed the most was being able to hear about the barristers here at Matrix and how they made it to such an amazing career. As well as that one of the things I looked forward to everyday was our trips to the high court which were really helpful and made it clear to me how law works. I have learnt so much and more.
My day started at 9am and finished at 5pm. This help me understand the struggles of work but it was definitely worth it as I enjoyed every minute. I sat at the OA (office assistant) desk and we were given tasks to complete on law cases and sometimes helped out the OA’s it was just as fun.
The staff here at Matrix are some of the nicest people you could meet. They made me feel as I was part of their team and were very welcoming and warming on my first day. Throughout the week I had their guidance and support which was very useful and much appreciated.
As being a year 10 student and not having learnt much about law I came here not knowing if I was going to understand much but the way Matrix confide in the work experience programme and want us to leave with an experience we will never forget ( and they have certainly accomplished that), I learnt more than I expected to.
I have had the best time here and would recommended any student who has an interest in law to apply for a work experience placement here. You definitely won’t regret it.
