Below Katherine describes her time with Matrix on work experience:
My week of work experience at Matrix chambers was excellent. Everyone in the office goes out of their way to be nice, they really want to give you an insight into what being a barrister involves. On the second day I went to the Supreme Court to see one off their barristers in court. This case was relating to appointing every Scottish child a ‘named person’. This was my first time in the Supreme Court and it did not disappoint. Throughout the week I was allowed to go see cases in the High court and Criminal Court. This ranged from murder trials to individuals being put under court orders via the terrorism act. They also arrange for you to speak to barristers about the cases and what being a barrister is like. This is an amazing opportunity as the barristers in Matrix are some of the best in the country. Overall the work experience gave me more than I could have hoped for.
