Lindsay joined Matrix as our Chief Executive in January 2006 from 2-3 Gray’s Inn Square. She was a practising solicitor before moving into legal management, education and training.  Lindsay was a board director of the Quarry Dougall Group and the Managing Director of QDOS before joining Informa plc, a FTSE 100 media and telecommunications group, where she was the Director of the Legal Division of IBC. She lives in North London with her husband and 4 small children.

Amanda has been at Matrix since its inception in May 2000. Amanda has had a number of years' experience of managing teams of people, developing barristers' practices, negotiating fees and delivering legal services. She worked at the Crown Prosecution Service for 12 years, formally as a caseworker and latterly as Private Secretary to the Director of Public Prosecutions, dealing with officials and Ministers across the criminal justice system and other government departments. Amanda's role at Matrix is to lead the practice team, including guidance on fees negotiations and dealing with crisis management; to manage relationships with new and existing clients; to work on key strategic business opportunities for new work; to help provide a framework and guidance for developing barristers' practices; and to be an ambassador for Matrix and its members. Amanda is fully involved in a number of our community initiatives. She is a keen skier and golfer.

At Matrix, in accordance with our quest to modernise the legal profession and the outdated terminology of the Bar, we have practice teams and practice managers and not clerks. The team is headed by a Practice Director (Amanda) and made up of three teams of three people: Team M, Team T and Team X.  Each team is led by a Practice Manager (Jason, John and Paul) who all have a number of years of experience in managing barristers’ practices.  

Due to the nature and wide diversity of member practices at Matrix, there is a great deal of overlap between the teams, and much cross-communication in terms of enquiries and case handling.  In general terms, the teams are made up as follows;

Team X: Public law, EU and competition
Team M: Employment law, commercial, media and defamation
Team T: Crime and due process, extradition, regulatory and public international

Kevin has been Chief Operating Officer at Matrix since early 2001. He has responsibility for a number of areas including finances, human resources, information technology and premises management. He worked for a number of years with another set of chambers, and has previously held posts in the charity sector, qualified and practised as a solicitor and spent some years working in corporate banking.  A 'bon viveur' Kevin enjoys travelling, especially holidays in the South of France.

Anthony Fairclough, our Legal Information Manager, is responsible for the development of our online strategy, library and legal information services. He also manages our internal legal updates service.

The Fees Team are responsible for billing and collecting fees on behalf of Matrix members.  Amongst other things they submit civil and criminal claims, process payments and reductions, aged debt adjustments, Conditional Fee Agreements and costs appeals. They also liaise with members’ accountants.
