As a member Nicholas practised in the general field of public law, particularly in the fields of personal liberty, discrimination and human, economic and social rights.  He had a special prominence in the field of immigration, asylum and European free movement law, where he appeared in many of the leading cases of the past ten years. Nicholas also practiced in the related fields of criminal, civil and international law.
