The case was on appeal from the Court of Appeal of Jamaica. The case before the Privy Council concerned the prejudice to the Defendants' case where the jury had been present in the court room when the judge had considered the no case to answer submissions. Alex Bailin appeared in the case.
--> Mohammed and Richardson v The State (2001)
The case was appealed from the Court of Appeal of Trinidad and Tobago. The Privy Council considered the felony-murder rule and the proper role of the appellate court. Alex Bailin appeared.
--> Sooklal and Mansingh v The State (1999)
This case before the Privy Council was on appeal from the Court of Appeal of Trinidad and Tobago and concerned favourable misdirection prejudicing the Appellant. The Privy Council considered whether, if the jury had been properly directed, they would inevitably have reached the same conclusion upon review of the evidence. Alex Bailin appeared.
