Matrix is committed to providing a stimulating, balanced and comprehensive training schedule and offers two 12-month training places with an award of £27,500 and an additional £7,500 contribution during the BVC year for applicants yet to undertake Bar finals.
Since Matrix was set up in May 2000 to date, 15 traineeships have been offered and eight of the 13 trainees who have completed traineeship with us have been offered tenancy.
In October 2007 Michelle Butler and Elizabeth Prochaska began their twelve month traineeships.
OLPAS Applications
Matrix is a member of the On Line Pupillage Application System ( OLPAS). We will only accept applications for traineeship through this system except where the Bar Council exempts applicants from applying through our chosen application procedure of OLPAS. Applicants who may be exempt are those who have other advocacy qualifications. To find out if you hold exemptions please contact the Joint Regulations Committee at The General Council of the Bar
The first round of OLPAS interviews will take place 18th and 19th June. We aim to let successful interviewees know by May 30th. The second round of interviews will take place on Saturday 5th July. For further information please contact Lindsay Howell.

Selection
Matrix follows a 3 stage process of selection. At Stage 1, application forms are sifted to identify approximately 40 candidates for short interviews at Stage 2; these reduce the pool to up to 10 candidates invited for further interviews and final selection at Stage 3. Non-OLPAS applications
Applicants who are exempt from this application procedure must also abide by the OLPAS common timetable which can be found on the OLPAS website. Click here for an OLPAS exempt application form.
