Thomas specialises in all aspects of
employment law
with particular emphasis on domestic and EU
discrimination law
, individual and collective rights, breach of contract and wrongful dismissal claims including injunctions. He has a wide ranging practice working for the statutory discrimination bodies, City firms, specialist employment firms, and in-house solicitors.
He is named in Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, Legal Experts and the Insider on Employment Law as a leading employment junior. Although best known for his
employment
and
discrimination law
work, Thomas’ practice also covers
EU law
,
human rights
and
international law
.
He was a member of the Justice Committee on Employment Tribunals and set up the Employment Lawyers Association. He is on the management committee of the Bar Pro Bono Unit, member of ELBA, ELA, ILS and DLA, and a founder member of XBHR - a multidisciplinary cross-border forum on HR and employment law.
He has written for a number of legal publications and lecturers extensively including for the Law Society, ELA, ILS and for at the Annual Conference for Employment Judges. He was the founding author of the the Employment Handbook (first two editions) for the Legal Action Group, joint author of the Employment Court Practice (Sweet & Maxwell) and was a member of the editorial board of the Encyclopedia of Employment Law (Sweet & Maxwell).
