Community Care Law

Email: PracticeStaff_TeamX@matrixlaw.co.uk

Matrix members have considerable experience and expertise in community care and closely related areas of law. Most cases involve the additional complexities of disability discrimination, statutory equality duties, capacity issues, best interests questions, manual handling, NHS continuing care, charging, direct payments/independent user trusts, mental health decisions, and/or human rights among other things.

The service users involved often face additional, but closely related, legal difficulties such as through being asylum seekers, prisoners, detainees under the Mental Health Act, children in residential care or secure training centres, children with special educational needs, or the victims of trafficking.

Our work is advisory but also involves challenges in all relevant tribunals including the MHRT, the SENDIST (now FTT), social services and NHS complaints procedures, Ombudsmen, judicial review, and the best interests jurisdiction of the Family Division or Court of Protection.
