Book by Andrew Clapham, published March 2006, Oxford University Press, which seeks to develop an understanding of the importance of human rights accountability for corporations, international organisations, multilateral development banks, multinational peace-keeping operations, rebel groups and even for individuals.

The case was brought before the International Court of Justice by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) contending that NATO's Operation Allied Force had constituted a breach of International law. James Crawford SC appeared as counsel for Canada.

The book examines the strengths and weaknesses of the monitoring systems that are in place to ensure the effective implementation of human rights treaties by ratifying States. It provides recommendations as to how the system can be improved to better protect fundamental rights. The book is co-edited by James Crawford SC.

The book examines the law governing global institutions such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. It also analyses the functions of international courts and tribunals, and sets out some of the joint challenges facing international and regional entities. The 5th revised edition is co-written by Philippe Sands QC.
--> Memorandum on International Law and the Use of Force
The memorandum was submitted in conjunction with Philippe Sands QC giving evidence before the House of Commons Select Committee on Foreign Affairs. It looks at the prohibition of the United Nations Charter of the use of force, and examines the Charter exceptions to this prohibition.

Philippe Sands QC's book provides a comprehensive insight into the principles of International Environmental Law. This 2nd edition includes the recent developments within this area of law.
--> The International Law Commission's Articles on State Responsibility
The ILC's Articles on State Responsibility were completed in 2001, and are considered to be a major advancement towards the codification of State responsibility in international law. In addition to containing the full text of the Articles, this book also has commentaries on the individual Articles by James Crawford SC.

This collection of essays is based on five lectures organised by Matrix and the Wiener Library between April and June 2002. The essays examine the development of international criminal law from the Nuremberg process up to the present. Philippe Sands QC is the editor, and has also contributed essays along with Cherie Booth QC and Andrew Clapham.
