This paper considers discrimination on grounds of nationality in the context of the law of the European Union. It looks at the historical and legal relationship between statements made in Opinions of the UK Advocate-General, Francis Jacobs. The paper was delivered by Rhodri Thompson QC at the 2004 Bar European Group Conference in Malta.
