Contract protecting private information - application for summary judgment. Heather Rogers appeared for the Claimaint, Ms Campbell.

The case concerned a claim by the actor Ewan McGregor in privacy and data protection arising out of the taking of photographs of his children. Hugh Tomlinson QC appeared in this case.

The case addressed important questions regarding the scope of the right to vote, the rights of privacy under the European Convention and the scope of the Data Protection Directive. Antony White QC was instructed on behalf of the claimant, whose claim against the newspaper involved breach of confidence and infringement of privacy and of data protection rights. The case established the new claim for "misuse of private information".
